I'm really close to finishing the GIP now. I'm still refining my final product; proofeading, adding in extra pieces of information I need and getting rid of information I don't need.

I'm also thinking about the case study on the Arctic and Antarctica since it's not really answering the question.... it kind of is answering the question but not directly like the other countries. It's not really showing how "rising sea levels" are affecting the country; it's more showing how rising temperatures are affecting it.

I just tweaked my focus question a little:

How are low-lying and ice-based nations being impacted by rising sea levels, as a result of melting ice?

When I say "ice-based", I mean countries which are prominently made up of ice or land covered in ice (in this case, the ice-based countries I will be looking at are Greenland and the Arctic)

I did some more research on the Maldives and Gambia, focusing more into the impact rising sea levels are having on the nations. I also deepened my inquiry on my "Final Product" page about the interconnectedness and interdependedness of

I think I have my focus question:

How are selected low-lying nations being impacted by rising sea levels as a result of melting ice?

I still need to deepen my research on each of my focus countries.

To do in the holidays:
-more researh on each country and the specific impacts they are experiencing
-refine my final product

I'm still really stuck on getting my final focus question.

Some more ideas:
-How are low-lying nations being impacted by rising sea levels, as a result of melting ice?
-An investigation into the impacts that rising sea levels, as a result of melting ice, are having on low-lying nations

I'm thinking I should have a statement at the beginning of my focus question such as: "The countries of Gambia, Kiribati, Greenland, the Maldives and the Arctic are just some of many countries experiencing the impacts of rising sea levels as a result of melting ice"

I looked up some more websites of specific countries by finding their country codes:
-Greenland (GL)
-The Maldives (MV)
-Kiribati (KI)
-Antarctica (AQ)... I couldn't find any websites for this
I want to get some different perspectives of each of the countries, rather than just perspectives from Australia.

Some more ideas for focus questions:

-Rising sea levels, as a result from melting ice, is affecting the countries of Kiribati, the Maldives, Greenland, Gambia and the Arctic. Discuss the effects that rising sea levels have on these countries and what is being done to prevent it. (not a question)
-How are countries that are threatened by rising sea levels, as a result of melting ice, being affected and what is being done to prevent it.
-In what ways are countries threatened by rising sea levels, as a result of melting ice, and what is being done to prevent it (very similar to my second question)

I quite like the second one. But I'm still not quite sure whether it encompases the outcome regarding the interconnectedness of countries.

I am now going to research more about what is being done to prevent rising sea levels' affects on various threatened countries.

I started up a new page today: "Outcome Points." In this, I will discuss my answers for the outcomes (which were mentioned in post 11).

I would like to formulate my focus question soon so I can start researching fully.
A few ideas:
-discuss the ways in which melting ice affects countries worldwide
-discuss the cultural, political and social effects that melting ice has on countries around the world
-discuss the effects melting ice, as a result of climate change, has had, is having and will have a various countries around the world (I think I like this one the best)

I really what to include the way that all countries are interconnected regarding the causes and results of climate change, melting ice and rising sea levels (for example, more developed countries cause it but the less developed countries experience the negative effects of it)

I had a read through the outcomes of the project. Different things to include:

-how rising sea levels are affecting each country differently
-Kiribati risking losing its culture and how and why
-controversial point: larger countries cause it but smaller countries are affected (everyone is responsible for the world)
-different countries affected (comparisons: similarities and differences)

This lesson, I would like to expand on the controversial point of countries causing and countires affected by rising sea levels.

I had a look at a Kiribati government website and found some really helpful information. I think it helped me get another perspective. It's got a lot of different areas to explore, such as the different ways climate change and rising sea levels are affecting it.

Taking on Ms Steer's suggestion, I've researched a few articles and websites about the effects of climate change and rising sea levels on various nations; the Maldives, Kiribati, Greenland and Gambia (specifically Banjul). They've helped get some more focus on my topic of "rising sea levels and melting ice" rather than just "climate change." I've found it really helpful and actually learned a surprising amount.
